5 lessons from 2018

Wishing all the readers an amazing year ahead. The new year is a time of self-reflection.So here is a page from my diary where I have mentioned five lessons that I learned from 2018. 



1. The effectiveness of a joke does not lie in the tongue of the speaker but the ear of the hearer

For me, 2018 was full of instances where my jokes were misinterpreted. Though humor is nice jokes can turn out to be ugly if it is beyond the comprehension of the listener. 


2. Never let a fool kiss you or a kiss fool you

That is a quote by Joey Adams and I can't agree more.

(not just a quote but my favorite quote)


3. If going gets tough the tough get going

I guess all of us have been through rough and tough times throughout the year. But there have been times equally pleasing. In short, we will surely have a brighter 2019 than its predecessor.


4.Love fearlessly

I already have written an entire post about it. Truth is we can't expect to be loved if we don't love others with our entire heart. It is never one way plus nothing heals more than time and love.


5. You have no idea about behind the scenes

Social media has been such a major part of 2018. 

Instagram, Snapchat have all successfully filtered our lives jut for the sake of pleasing our friends, family, and even strangers. We forget that the story might be different behind the scene.

1. Your crush is probably one of those people who can make you feel the most uncomfortable. He can make your head spin, make you feel weak in your knees, and get you to blush when you don't want to. While your love interest is someone you are the most comfortable around. 2. Even if your crush is a total loser, that won't harm you but an awful lover can stink your life. You can end up placing your crush on a pedestal even though he is an idiot. You would glorify all of his credentials and overlook all his ineptness. 3. A friendly gesture from your crush can leave you awestruck but even though your guy goes miles for you, he can still fail to win you. (the heart wants what it wants). 4. Your love interest seems to be a net flix subscription to you but your crush looks like a membership to the clubhouse. Why so obsessed with beauty?

Why are we so obsessed with our appearances. Does this dimension of our life deserve all that botheration? The race to look the best is doing more harm to women than body hair. This is not to praise the twinkle in our eyes or the glory in our smile, but to make a point that our obsession with beauty is mad-crazy. The way I look at it someone's attractive looks do no good to you. The present beauty standards are undermining, distracting, and destructive. It affects women more, on average women own 40 cosmetics. As long as you are not aspiring to be eye candy or to join show-biz, there is no need to freak so much about your looks. Can we just stop talking about who wore what at the party? Can we breathe and let people be. It is high time that we admire each other for confidence, sass, talent.
